Alan J. Friedman, Ph.D., is an independent consultant in the areas of museum development and science communication. For 22 years he served as the Director of the New York Hall of Science, the city's science-technology center. As a consultant, Dr. Friedman assists museums, government agencies, foundations, and other organizations in developing science exhibitions and programs and in developing policies for education. He currently serves on the National Assessment Governing Board and the boards of the Merck Institute for Science Education and the Noyce Foundation. Dr. Friedman joined the BSCS Board of Directors in 2011.
