Job Announcement  |  eLearning Administrator

Status: Non-Exempt, Full-time

General Description

BSCS (Biological Sciences Curriculum Study) is currently seeking a full-time eLearning Administrator. The mission of BSCS is to transform science teaching and learning through research and development that strengthens learning environments and inspires a global community of scientifically literate citizens.

The eLearning Administrator will work in the Science Exchange group, administrating a broad range of eLearning efforts related to the organization’s products and services work. The individual in this position will need to bring expertise in LMS administration, online course development, and a track record of meeting scheduled deadlines and being a good communicator. The eLearning Administrator will need to work with minimal supervision; exercise considerable judgment in completing assignments; and must develop comprehensive skills and knowledge of organizational operations, practices, and policies. In addition, the eLearning Administrator must be open to providing general technical support for the larger BSCS organization when necessary. This position will report to the Technology Manager.

The successful applicant must have excellent communication skills, be self-reliant and confident enough to solve problems and resolve conflicts independently within the BSCS system. This person will maintain a high standard of quality and be expected to interact well with other members of the staff.

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in eLearning, educational technology/instructional design.

Experience and/or Formal Training

The eLearning Administrator must have relevant, appropriate experience for the position. The ideal candidate will have substantial and high-level experience  and skills in the following areas:

  • Moodle LMS administration
  • formatting and manipulating digital HTML/XHTML1 content to meet design and usability requirements
  • creating multimedia components to support online learning (videos, webinars, interactives)
  • combining critical thinking with creative problem solving to align technical options to the needs of the user base
  • balancing multiple projects with tight deadlines and meeting or exceeding project milestones
  • excellent communication, consulting, and collaboration skills to work with content experts and project leads to define problems/opportunities, create realistic solutions, and discuss implementation options.
  • working efficiently with eLearning software, including Camtasia, Adobe Captivate, Adobe Creative Suite 5, and Adobe Media Encoder

Quality of experience will rate more highly than tenure or seniority when assessing the experience requirement, although successful candidates will likely have three to five years related work experience or combination of education and experience.

Interested applicants should review the BSCS web site, then send a letter of interest and a detailed résumé to jobs@bscs.org. We will review complete applications received by beginning 4 February 2013 with the highest priority. Applications received after that date may not be reviewed, though the position will be held open until a highly qualified applicant is found. Please put “eLearning Administrator” in the subject line. Note that your letter of interest should show substantial evidence that you have studied the web site and understand what we do. Top candidates will be required to supply additional information and materials including contact information for several references. We may also conduct a background or credit check.
