The 2005 Evolution Symposium, organized by BSCS, American Institute of Biological Sciences (AIBS), and National Association of Biology Teachers (NABT), brought together leading experts and provided science teachers with a general review of the philosophical issues surrounding the teaching of evolution and a broad update on current evolutionary science content related to the environment. To complement the proceedings of the symposium, BSCS has developed an activity book for teachers. This book, which includes materials for both teachers and students, is a collection of classic BSCS activities on evolution.

Five Areas of Focus

  1. Introduction to evolutionary thinking
  2. Teaching the tree of life
  3. Teaching how evolution works
  4. Teaching evolution's importance for public health
