Dr. Joseph Taylor is Director of Research & Development at BSCS. He previously served as Director for the BSCS Center for Research and Evaluation from 2007 to 2010, where he provided methodological leadership and oversight on all research and evaluation studies as well as proposal development for new projects. Joe’s role as Director of Research & Development includes service to the BSCS Senior Leadership Team, facilitating and leading proposal development efforts, and supervising Science Educators and Project Coordinators.

Joe joined the BSCS staff in 2001 as a science teacher professional development and research specialist. His work in professional development involved helping schools and districts throughout the country design and deliver standards-based professional development for science teachers. This included professional development programs designed specifically to support curriculum implementation.

Joe taught high school physics and mathematics before completing a Ph.D. in Science Education at Penn State University. He holds a Master’s Degree in Mathematics Education from Ohio University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Physics Education from California University of Pennsylvania.
