Karen Askinas joined BSCS as a Research Assistant in November 2008. While at BSCS she has collected and compiled information from school personnel and consultants as part of research projects. She creates and manages large data bases for these projects. Her prior work experience includes training volunteers and implementing economic education programs in kindergarten through high school for Junior Achievement (JA).  While employed there she also redeveloped the fifth-grade JA program to focus on the importance of science, technology, engineering, and math skills as applied in many businesses and careers. She worked for several years as a bank examiner for the FDIC and was employed by a large, financial institution in commercial and construction lending review.

Karen has a B.A. in Accounting and Scandinavian Studies from Luther College. Outside of work she enjoys skiing, knitting, reading, and spending time with her husband and three boys.
